The contemporary labour market demands a growing number of employees who are capable of design thinking and able to create value in their professional activities. The proposed programme of the workshops aims at filling this competence gap and leads to a greater employability of the project’s participants.
The project envisages four editions of “Design Thinking” workshops. The six day programme of the workshop consist of 36 working hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS points) and is based on three leading themes:
The participants will also have an opportunity of becoming acquainted with chosen elements of Polish architecture, city design and music.
All meetings are going to be organised online. Participation is free of charge and is open to all students of bachelor and master study programmes.
Academic position and path
Graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz and Polish-French Special Studies MBA. Obtained a PhD degree in economics, specialisation in finance in 2016. For a long time associated with Lodz Film School and Faculty Film Art Organization Production. Currently an assistant professor at the Department of City and Regional Management, Faculty of Management, University of Lodz.
Current research interests
Topics related to public finance, the financing and management of culture, creative cities.

These interests are reflected in two books, numerous publications and participation in scientific projects.

Senior lecturer at the Department Management, Faculty of Management, University of Lodz. Joined the University of Lodz as Faculty member in 1972 after graduating from the MA in Economics. Received a PhD degree in Economics at that same Faculty (1981). Full time professor at New Brunswick University (1989/1990, 2001 and 2005 in Trinidad).
Current research interests
Organization Theory and Management with an interest in Organization Architecture, Complexity Theory implication for Organization Theory, and Interpretative paradigm of organizations.

Published around 50 papers and book chapters, mainly in students’ textbooks and one book under the title Architecture of Corporation (2011). Received several awards, mainly at the University of Lodz. University.

Joined the University of Lodz as faculty member in 2018 after 2 years of collaboration with University of Lodz as a guest instructor with business practice. Visiting professor at Lazarski Univesity in Warsaw (since 2006). Awarded a degree of doctor habilitus in 2018.

Research interests concentrate around the issues of public management, public finance, local and regional development in functional areas.

Published around 50 papers and book chapters. Received several awards, including the University of Lodz Foundation Prize for scientific achievements in the field of social sciences in 2012 and 2013.

The recent developments in the area of artificial intelligence and business process automation have significantly changed the scope of competences that are required from university graduates who enter the labour market.
The employers seek for employees who are capable of: (1) reframing the problem, (2) creating alternative solutions to identified problems, (3) creating prototypes and testing assumptions and, above all, (4) showing empathy with regards to the organisation’s stakeholders. Such a competence mix boosts the organisation’s capacity to generate and market innovations.
Each of the four editions of the “Design Thinking” workshops is open for up to 20 participants, non-Polish citizens. The participants of the workshops can be students of other universities and/or high schools (prospective university students). Available places that are not filled by participants who are not currently studying at the University of Lodz may be offered to non-Polish citizens who are University of Lodz students, preferably in English language programmes.
The participants are expected to have an inquisitive attitude, ability to work as part of a team and English proficiency (B2 or higher).
Upon successful completion of the workshops (attendance rate of at least 50% is required) the participants will be awarded certificates of participation.

The University of Lodz is the largest public university in central Poland, performing research and offering education at 13 faculties. The programme of workshops offered within this project has been prepared and will be conducted by experienced academic teachers from the Faculty of Management who are actively teaching in the Business Management study programmes (at bachelor and master levels) that have been accredited by the IACBE (International Accreditation Council for Business Education).
